This motto of the Snipe Class also sums up the essence of Fleet 330 at the Atlanta Yacht Club.
The Fleet
Snipe Fleet 330 at Atlanta Yacht Club is as old as the Club itself, which organized in the early 1950's. We're a racing fleet, with a full schedule of races April to November on our home waters, Lake Allatoona, Georgia, about 25 miles northwest of Atlanta. Our sailors are active at home--we count 10-12 boats racing at any given time-- and participate in regional and national regattas.
We carry a roster of 30 to 35 members, who represent all age groups and skill levels. This is the beauty of the Snipe- it can be very competitive or it can be a learning experience for the novice to the expert. Our fleet does enjoy a party; our goal--at least one per month during the racing season.

The Boat
For just a little background, the Snipe is a 15-1/2 foot, two-person, one-design racing dinghy with a rich history dating back to 1931. Originally designed by William Crosby to comply with the emerging "trailer class" of racing sailboats, it has evolved into a modern, tactical racing dinghy with fleets around the world. It's rigged with a main sail and a jib and its center board is adjustable. The Snipe is very stable, and optimally is sailed flat to the water.

The Snipe Connections
Snipe Fleet 330 is a member fleet of SCIRA USA, the national organization of the Snipe Class International Racing Association (SCIRA) responsible for organizing and managing Snipe sailing in the United States.
