About the Regatta

Snipe Fleet 330 invites you to the annual Halloween Regatta at the Atlanta Yacht Club on beautiful Lake Allatoona on October 23-25, 2009. One of the oldest Snipe Regattas in North America, the Halloween Regatta is a Southern Tradition celebrating the end of our sailing season.

This year's Halloween Regatta is the culmination of Snipe Week. We hope that you will participate in many of the prior events:

US Masters Monday through Thursday, Wooden / Classic Snipe Rally Wednesday through Friday, and Greg Fisher's on the water clinic Friday afternoon. The traditional chili dinner may be purchased Friday night, followed by free children's costume party and Trick or Treating.  Greg's clinic Friday night is also free. Registration will be open from 5 pm until 9.

Saturday has a full schedule.  There is breakfast, registration, junior races, competitors' meeting, lunch, Spook and Goblin Division races, followed by the District 4 meeting and hot buttered rum, served in our traditional complimentary mugs.

Saturday night the action starts. Once the cocktail party and catered dinner are out of the way, the real partying begins. The band cranks up right after supper and dancing will continue until the wee hours. Costumes are encouraged - we even offer prizes to the most original.

We don't want to forget about the racing. Perhaps the best known Snipe regatta in the country, we still average 55 - 60 boats, good enough for top competition even if down from our record 110 Snipes in the years when everyone had time to travel. We'll split into Spooks (Championship division) and Goblins (less experienced skippers) so everyone can compete appropriately. Our goal is to provide the best possible sailing on the water and the best possible family experience on land.

Check out the schedule and you will see Snipe Week has something for the whole family. Register today and start becoming part of this Southern Tradition.
